I reckon with this weather there could be a lot more of them on the way down so I'm off to Waterstones to buy a book on Penguins.
I noticed quite high numbers of Teal. Its strange how they always look pristine even though they are plodging around in mud.

Great pic of the gulls on the ice. You won't see that very often! The Teal looks terribly dapper. L
Lot of icing on river edges of South Tyne haven't seen that in many years. Enjoy reading the blog.

Apparantly there are a lot of ice flows in the Ryton Willows area
While out for a walk along banks of So Tyne east of Haltwhistle I was suprised to see Rabbits scurrying across the icy edges of the river when I obviously disturbed them. Had not realised ice was so thick?
Can remember as a schoolkid in early sixties watching large very thick ice flows coming down the Tyne at North Shields! Are we in for something similar this year?
