Still here

Its been some time since my last post which has had more to do with, demolishing a brute of a garden wall and replacing it by a retaining structure and fence above, than the weather. But I'm getting there, and I digress.

You will see that the 'back garden' will need a serious makeover once I'm rid of the bricks, sometime next year.
So ideas on how I can improve bird visits are starting to come to mind. In the past we have had plenty of visits but as soon as they pick up food they were off next door to consume it.
One of my current jobs was to prune next doors tree and I chucked all the twiggy bits into a heap beside the bricks. Almost at once Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, BlueTit started to  use the 'twiggyhut' as a place to linger. There now seems to be at least one bird or another in there all the time.
So the new garden layout is going to contain a 'twiggyhut', perhaps with a honysuckle holding it all together.
Its going to be quicker than waiting for a twiggy shrub to develop.
Dreams of ponds and Damselflies are also drifting about. My current pond being a sunken black plastic dustbin, which with one plant in the water, stays gin clear all year round and is used by birds and frogs.

Going to copy the "twiggyhut" in the next couple of days. We don't get anything too exotic in the garden but our House Sparrow numbers are up to 30-40 and have a few resident Dunnocks. A few Blackbirds and Robins have appeared recently and i think all will appreciate it.
Popped up to the Rising Sun the other day as you may have noticed but was on an on the spot decision.

Nice to see you back
My whole back garden is a 'twiggyhut' not by intention but by lack of application. Great for the birds but the neighbours aren't too keen.

Looks like twiggyhut is a winner with the birdies. You just need a PR campaign behind it and you could make a million. Imagine, you could sell it as a self assembly kit (a bag of branches) with a few Ikea like instructions to people with more money than sense. In fact Ikea might even be interested!

This morning we have had Twiggyhut extended visits from Blackbird, Dunnock, Robin, Great Coal Blue Tit,House Sparrow, AND first time in back garden for ten years - Chaffinch.
Maybe a patent application Linda?
