Not the usual bird sighting in Jesmond Dene earlier today. I understand that there may be two of them about.
Earlier sightings have been reported from Rising Sun Country Park.
Harris Hawk,
A short visit, cos it was caad, to Whittle Dene this morning provided some nice views of Whooper Swan. A Dipper and a Green Sandpiper were in the overflow channel.
Had a couple of hours around Harwood this morning which was picture perfect with fresh snow, sunshine, Siskin, Jay, Kestrel, Goldcrest, Buzzards. Very nice.
A trip up the coast started at East Chevington where a Long-tailed Duck and an Otter were nice to watch. A couple of Bar-Tailed Godwit were hunkered down at Hauxley amongst the Redshanks. A pair of Pintail at Druridge Pools in the fading light finished off the day nicely
A visit to Thornley today produced my first sighting of a flock of Siskin this winter, feeding on their favourite Larch. Willow Tit and Nuthatch were nice to see.
