Dare I claim it is a .........

Spent a few hours working in the back garden, with the camera nearby.
Noisy gulls made me look up to see them mobbing ..... a White Stork? - making its way South over Gosforth High Street, I hope I'm correct on this one, but I'm sure someone will correct me otherwise.

A little later a commotion amongst the pigeons on the roof of the Sanderson Hospital made me grab the camera and get a couple of iffy shots of the Sparrowhawk.

White Stork.

Probably the plastic one thats been knocking around the county the past week or so - an escape from Harewood House near Leeds, although I may be wrong about its origin.

There was an unringed White Stork seen toady at Shotton Colliery, so it could be the real thing.

I'm afraid it's the escape - wing damage matches the bird from Burgham. The ring is very difficult to see unless you are close up as it is just above the birds left foot and is basically a thin metal band. This particular bird has visited the county several times before, must like the area!
